Reliable way to produce PDF files with ALL embedded fonts for LaTeX documents

Once your tex file is ready and is perfectly built with pdflatex:

  • save your file with another name (i.e. filename.tex)
  • ensure that each pdf figure has the correspondent eps version
  • modify the includegraphics command for each figure, adding the option angle=-90
  • process the produced file with the following commands
  latex filename.tex
  dvips -o filename.ps filename.dvi
  ps2pdf14 -dPDFSETTINGS=/prepress -dEmbedAllFonts=true filename.ps
  • check the produced pdf file with the commands pdffonts and pdfinfo
Best way to produce PDF images for LaTeX documents
  • Open an empty file and put the following preamble
  \documentclass{article}
  %% REQUIRED PACKAGES
  % ...
  \usepackage{tikz} %TIKZ package, included in PGF latex package
  \usepackage[active,tightpage]{preview}  % PREVIEW package
  %

  • Use the package PGF-TIKZ to define a one page image
  • Run pdflatex
